Gown, Long
Clothing/Dress/Costume
Entirely hand stitched infant’s long dress made of cotton printed with mill-engraved pattern of minute stars. Tiny, very high waisted ‘bodice’ set into the body; gathered at bottom and at top has a casing for a twill cotton tape; similar casing and drawstring in back neck. The body is cut in one piece to the side back with an angled side corresponding to 2 CB pieces similarly angled where they join the front; a rather narrow and long skirt with tiny hem and no tucks. Narrow shoulder straps and short puffed sleeves with a casing near the bottom for a narrow picot edged white (?) silk ribbon drawstring.
