1850 - 1870

2005.007 lace edging, honiton, 6 yards 1850-1870 "6 yards of 8” wide edging made of Honiton lace retaining what appears to be a tiny circular tag on one end- appears thus never to have been used. Ground of picot bars. Linen MID. Karen Augusta:Quality Honiton is quite special to lace collectors. The design in this flounce is beautiful and the workmanship extraordinary. A rose bouquet alternates with a grouping of leaves and stylized flowers. The floral motifs have delicate brick or plaited fillings. The lace toile is held together by picot edged brides. This English Honiton flounce was made by a master lace-maker." Bought because it seemed to be far underpriced.... I would guess the value should have been closer to $1500-$3000 ... according to what I saw on Internet (: O Excellent. 2005.007.JPG 2005.007d.JPG ADULT MAKINGS ? F no repairs made Excellent
