Object/Artifact

Day cap made of fine muslin with tabour stitched florets. Entirely hand stitched. The high dome crown has 4 ruched puffs of plain gauze set across the front, separated by strips of hand made lace. Deep double plain muslin frill at the top, single layer around the bottom and back; edged with hand made lace which also trims the ends of the wide muslin ties. The top or back of the crown has a large roundel of hand made lace. Fine drawstring in casing at the base. Inked at the back VInked at the back “A. J. Dyer.”
