Capelet
Object/Artifact
Black lady's capelet. Mid-arm length. Black silk satin outer fabirc, and inner silk lining. Stand collar, with two outerlayer collars for "flared" effect. One collar is a macined-netting with machine emrboidery in white-cream. The second outer collar is a black silk mull fabric, which has been fluted. The body of the capelet is covered in a zig-zag cream (originally gold?) cotton tarlatan fabric. This in turn is filled in with periodic fluer-de-lis and spades, accmplished with a machined chain stitch. Black satin silk bows at CF with ribbon hanging down. Hook and eye closure at CF which goes halfway down. "Conrad's Boston" sewn inside capelet. This capelet is from a department store Conrad's in Boston.
