Clothing/Dress/Costume
Dress of brown silk satin with a greenish tint, lined with white polished cotton. Wide neckline on drawstrings in silk layer to tie at center front closure; there is another pair of drawstrings at the waist. Front linings have no fastenings. Back is unshaped, with stem stitched curved lines mimicking side back seams. Front of skirt, made as an apron-front, is pleated toward sides over a channel that holds another drawstring; back is carefully pleated toward center back to bodice. Long, straight sleeves are piped at wrist edges, which curve up to the seams. Hand sewn.
