Dress
Object/Artifact
Machine stitched dress made of red plaid mohair or wool on silk warp. Close-fitting front with full length opening from proper right shoulder to left hem. “Epaulet” strip on proper left shoulder. Narrow coat sleeves with pointed turnback cuffs and split jockeys. Back of skirt is box pleated onto a section of waistband floating free of bodice underneath the three “tails” of the back. The sides of the front skirt each have a slit pocket on an angle. The sparkling gilt brassbuttons are used on the opening, epaulet, jockeys and cuffs. Loops of green and yellow braid form concentric ovals on the tails, and decorate the hem, pockets and opening.
