Dress
Clothing/Dress/Costume
Three piece day dress of dark red-brown plain weave wool. A) Fitted bodice buttons down front, with peplum over hips, long straight sleeves have ruching at cuff, around neck and down middle back. Flat matching silk covered buttons. B) Skirt is cut for bustle and has a flounce and ruching at hem. C) Apron front overskirt has two rows of vertical shirring at each side; longer back panel gathered slightly at sides into the front. Worn and owned by Matilda Taber (Mrs. Andrew Smith): Married Jan. 21 1868 (born Sept. 28,1846) in Enfield Center, NY. Lived in Cayutaville, NY
