What to Bring

Lunch

Pack lunch for your child each day, even if they are attending a cooking camp. Their lunch will be stored in a cooler throughout the day.

If you purchased a camp lunch, please make sure you have completed the Order Form found in your camper’s forms and documents on CampBrain.

Insect Repellent & Sunscreen

Your child will spend much of their week outdoors.  If they normally use insect repellent and/or sunscreen when participating in outdoor activities, remember to apply them in the morning, before camp.  GCV&M staff are not allowed to apply these for you, but campers may bring their own and self-apply. Sharing sunscreen or bug spray is not permitted.  If you would like the GCV&M nurse to apply these, we will need an order from your doctor.

What to Wear

Camp is an active, outdoor program and will be held rain or shine! Children should bring/wear:

  • Comfortable play clothes and be dressed appropriately for the weather (i.e., raincoat or boots, winter hat and jacket, etc.)
  • Close-toed shoes or sneakers are required, please no flip flops, sandals or shoes that cannot get dirty
  • Lightweight, long pants or leggings are recommended due to insects and the presence of poison ivy

GCV&M is not responsible for lost or stolen items and we pride ourselves in a screen-free experience. Please leave electronics and other expensive or otherwise precious items at home.

On the Last Day of Camp

For Campers

Remember that your camper will need to bring 21st-century clothes with them to change at the end of the day before going home.

For Parents

Please join us for a camp-wide slideshow in the Museum’s Meeting Center at 3:30 p.m.!

Can’t make it to the slideshow? That’s okay! We’ll share photos after camp and have your camper ready to pick up at 4 p.m. or off the bus at the usual time.

We are so excited for the 2026 camp season!

Did you know? You and your family can visit the Museum and experience a slice of camp year-round. The Museum is closed on Mondays and Tuesdays during summer camp weeks, but open to the public Wednesday – Friday. Please check www.gcv.org for updated hours of operations, special programs, and access.

Not a member? Join our museum family! A membership pays for itself in just a couple visits, offers discounts on special programs (and camp!), and includes FREE admission all summer long. Learn more here.

Please reach out with any questions … and see you soon!
