Cheesemaking Workshop

Learn the fundamentals of cheesemaking in one of our 19th-century kitchens! Participants will make a hard cheese and bring home skills that they can use in their own kitchens. All participants must be age 16+; participants under the age of 18 MUST be accompanied by a paid adult ticketholder.

Frequently Asked Questions:

Arrival & check-in: 

• Purchase of this ticket includes admission to the Museum for the day (10 a.m. – 3 p.m.).
• Parking is free and plentiful! Park in any of the main lots at the front of the Museum. The first two bays are available for handicapped parking.
• An interpretation staff member will greet and check you in by name inside the Meeting Center Lounge (to the immediate right of Admissions when facing the front of the Museum). However, we recommend also either printing out OR taking a screenshot of your ticket(s) or confirmation as backup.
• You will be walking from Admissions to the workshop site and back. Dress for the predicted weather conditions and wear sturdy footwear. Guest transport is available for those who are not able to walk long distances.

Food & Shopping: 

• Lunch is included in the cost of this ticket! Participants will make and eat macaroni & cheese made over the woodstove. However, if you have dietary requests or restrictions, please feel free to bring you own bag lunch (please no glass containers or alcohol).
• The Flint Hill Gift Shop is open from 10 a.m. – 3 p.m.! Shop village-made goods, GCV&M apparel, historic crafts & games, and more.

Other Information: 

• The Museum is closed to visitors on this date, but we hope you’ll come back to visit another time.
• Smoking and vaping are strictly prohibited past the front parking lots.
• Videography, professional photography, and drone usage are strictly prohibited.
• We allow leashed, certified service animals with proper identification. We do not allow pets.
• Tickets for this event were refundable only up to 7 days prior to the workshop date. All GCV&M tickets are strictly non-transferable by date, entry time, or program. No exceptions will be made.
