Small advertisement card for "Lydia E. Pinkham's Vegetable Compound" with image of Lydia Estes Pinkham on one side and detailed list of uses of compound on other side. Beneath fron side picture are words, "Yours for Health Lydia E. Pinkham." Marketed as a cure for "ovarian troubles, inflammation, ulceration, falling and displacement of womb and for adaption during the Change of Life." Pinkham wears a bar pin beneath her collar in CF. Bar pin appears to be holloware piece, in Arts & Crafts style.
Badge Pin
Badge pin, most likely made by the Whitehead and Hoag Co., some time from 1892 onward. Center featured a piece of celluloid with the hands of a man and woman clasped together. Enclosed in a shell with edges turned over. On back are two wires - one for pinning and one for hanging a ribbon. Metal is most likely copper. Whitehead & Hoag Co. was from Newark, NJ. Patent on back stamped "1892." 3' long 1 1/4" wide
Badge Pin
Badge pin has crossed American flags printed on celluloid plastic surrounded by decorative copper edging. There are 2 pins on the back; a safety pin to attach to clothing. The second, lower, longer pin holds a cloth ribbon or other informational material printed on cloth banner. These 2 pins are made from same piece of wire. Stamped onto the back is THE WHITEHEAD & HOAG CO. NEWARK NJ PAT OCT. 18.92 MAR 7,93. 2 1/2" long 1" wide

Sterling silver pin beautifully engraved. 13 tiny faux pearls are strung on a wire that loops down into 2 holes on each end of the finding. On back is a round hinge and older safety clasp. STERLING is stamped on one edge. 1 1/2" long 3/16" wide

Two large faceted jet glass balls cap the end of a tube. Strung between the ends are 4 gold colored spacers and 3 smaller faceted balls. From each spacer hang 4 smaller faceted jet glass balls. Seems to be some repairs; one large ball has been glued onto the tube and one dangle has a smaller, less decorative head pin end. Likely a mourning pin. Unusual style of safety clasp glued poorly to the tube. Tube hinge and c clasp 3" long 3/4" wide

Front surface is highly polished gold or gold-filled yellow gold with decorative engraving in the form of 3 flowers, each center filled with a round gem ( 1 turquoise and 2 garnet cabochons) leaves and other textured surfaces. This is the hallmark for "B.A. Ballou & Co., Inc." manufacturer of gold and rolled plate jewelry and findings, established 1876 in Providence, R.I. Body of pin is stamped from brass. The stamping creates 3 platforms with one concave in center. Top appears to have been gilded but most worn away. Silver dove in center of pin is nicely engraved. It carries a leaf / twig in its mouth. On each side is an engraved flower, perhaps a lily, with a copper ball in the center and each of the four corners. The flowers are silver. Tube hinge and c clasp. Dove riveted to the back of the pin. Aesthetic Era 2 1/4" long. 9/16" wide.

This 3 dimensional Onyx bar pin is a mourning pin. Two ends have been carved to give a sort of faceted quality to the ends. In the center section is a grid formed by flat wires with a tiny natural seed pearl in the center flanked by 2 leaves on each end (their tops are textured and engraved) ending with larger natural seed pearls, each in a good setting, one to each end. Tube hinge and early safety clasp. On curved part of clasp is 14 k and a pin stem, which extends beyond the clasp. The front decoration appears to be riveted to the back. 2 3/16" long 7/16" wide 3/16" deep

On either side of the purple stone -- set by prongs in gold-toned cups, are eight sparkling rhinestones (paste lead glass?). All soldered to a brass plate. A clear faceted rhinestone is set in a cup decorated with slashes along the rim. The cup is attached to a post attached to the underside of pin. Scatter initial pin marked "sterling" on the back. This pin reflects both Edwardian and Art Nouveau features with marcasites and milgrain edging. Thin Silver bar pin. There are 3 small clear rhinestones separating the 4 sections of this pin. There is a leaf at each end and 2 slim ovals in the middle. The ovals are outlined in milgrain dots with larger milgrain dots down the center. Each oval divided in 1/2 by an even smaller clear rhinestone. The 3 larger rhinestones may be glued in but are also secured by swirls of metal holding them in a collet. On the back STERLING is stamped. There is a round hinge and a c clasp. The pin stem is slightly rusted...not sterling silver. 1 15/16" long 1/8" wide.

Silver toned base metal was stamped with round depressions along the edges of the tie and knot which were filled with white enamel. Multi-part pin has a central section consisting of a diamond shaped part with 2 ribbon-like narrow ends to each side. The ribbons on each side show a flower, with leaves and decorations. There are 2 diamond sections attached to the main section by small gold balls. The surface is covered with a picture of a bird, carrying a leafy twig in its mouth. It is very colorful, on a black background of tiny black tesserae. Each picture is surrounded by rope wire. There are decorative gold balls top and bottom of the large central diamond and surrounding the side diamonds. Several pink tesserae making up the top wing of the bird appear missing. The metal may be gold or gold filled. This is a micro mosaic pin, likely made in Italy. Tube hinge and large safety clasp. 2 1/4" long 1/4" wide

Bar pin or collar pin, framed in the style of a safety pin. This is likely heavy gold-filled wire. Soldered onto this is likely sterling silver wings and a heart. Each wing has 3 seed pearls, each fitted into a hollow depression and held by blobs of metal. The pearls appear to be natural. The heart is open with very tiny seed pearls, 6 of them inserted into the bottom of the heart, also held by bits of silver. In the center, collet set is probably a round, faceted amethyst. 1 1/2" long 7/16" wide

The tiny round granulations and the thin twisted wire decorating the top of the metal strips are the only direct connection to Etruscan jewelry. There is a crescent strip roughly surfaced, hanging with 10 pieces of turquoise in square bezels. Tube hinge and c clasp. 2 1/16" long. 1/2" wide

Bar pin or "lace pin" made up of two different metal types---rounded outside border made from sterling silver, while interior frame is made of brass gilded with gold. Silver exterior frame is engraved on top, has open edgework along sides. Interior center of pin featured a silver diamond-shaped setting, in which is set a rounded faceted clear rhinestone. There is a 4-prong setting on this stone. Round hinge on back and early style safety clasp. Stamped on the pin stem, near hinge, are "F.P.Co." which is the mark of Ford, Perry Co. of Providence, R.I. in business from 1914-1922. 1 1/4" long 1/2" wide

Bar Pin of brass and rhinestones. Heavy brass wire frame. Narrow in center but flares out at ends. In the narrow center, 9-prong set, purple rhinestones are lined up. In each flared end is a long, repeating foliate decorative piece attached to the end. On the back is a round hinge, c clasp, and the pin stem extends significantly beyond the c clasp and front of the pin. 2" long 1/8" wide center 1/4' wide ends

This pin may be solid gold, it is heavy and there is no evidence of other metals. It appears to be stylized in Victorian Etruscan Revival style with balls on the ends of the bar and 3 granulations on the center motif. Taille d'epargné black enameling on both the front and back of the bar and on one ball . Some enameling is missing on the left ball. Detailing of pin suggests it was not for low end of market. Tube hinge and c clasp. Pin stem extends beyond the clasp. 1 11/16" long. 1/4" wide

Bar pin, gold-filled. The center, top-most area has taille d'épargne enameling in black. Its primary motif is the belt with a buckle. This was common motif during Victorian Era, as Queen Victoria presented Albert with garters, one encrusted with diamonds, as presents on their wedding day. Old tube hinge and c-clasp replaced by more modern safety clasp. 1 5/8" long 1" wide Hollowware, very worn.

Silver bar pin may be sterling although it is not marked. It is a palm leaf with a dangle bead. It bears resemblance in the fine quality of the work and detail of the leaf to George Jensen pieces. There are no makers marks. Older style round hinge and safety c clasp. 2 1/2 " long 3/4" wide

A 5 petaled flower and 2 leaves are raised from the surface. Tube hinge and c clasp. Pin stem extends beyond the clasp. There are 4 stamps: J.R.E. maker unknown. An anchor, signifying Birmingham, England; a lion signifying sterling silver and a C, signifying 1902. 1 11/16" long 5/8" wide

The back of the pin shows the metal has been stamped, as it is hollow. It has a round hinge and modern safety clasp. There is a rectangular plaque with "Sterling" on it. Bar Pin of sterling silver of heavy-shaped wire filled in with delicate filigree "lace." Outside edging wire has tiny, repetitive marks. Tiny forget-me-nots flowers and 2 green leaves are soldered in middle with one flower on each end. The petals are enamel blue/green, with green leaves. Round hinge and early modern safety clasp. Pin stem is stamped "STERLING E.I.F. Co." made by E.I.F. & Co. stands for E.I. Franklin & Co. at Attleboro, MA. Company started in 1874 and may have continued into the 1930s. 2 1/4" long 1/4" wide

Rolled gold 1/8" thick bar soldered with a trefoil on each end made of rolled gold hollow wires soldered together and cut off in 1/8" pieces. There is a stamped design on the top of each. There are 4 decorative elements arranged equidistant along the length. Alternating, faux pearls and pink faceted rhinestones in prong held cups is across from the trefoils. One of the faux pearls has lost all its pearl surface and the other one is cracked. Tube hinge and c clasp. (With a loop that keeps the long pin stem from poking you) . 2" long 5/16" wide

There is a thin line of bloomed gold surrounding the arrows at each end. Tube hinge, c clasp with a long cover and a thick pin stem. Handmade solid Sterling silver pin. Each end folded in and decorated with edging like the margins of the pin. A design of stems, leaves and flowers is engraved on the pin. Tube hinge and c clasp. There are three hallmarks on the back, the sideways anchor means made in Birmingham, England; the stylized S means made in 1892 and the lion with rai sed paw means it was made of sterling silver. 1 1/2" long. 5/16" wide.

A flat wire very intricate filigree fills the space and is centered with an oval bezel set white opal that has colors including green orange and red. The opal is cut in a cabochon shape. A pressed oval plate of pot metal plated with gold fills in the frame. It can be easily popped out. There has been some attempt to enhance the surface with texture around the flower and leaves. Scalloped circle with a banner that passes across and under it. Banner decorated with silver and pink gold leaves, vine and flowers. Each end has red gold balls and rope. The scalloped circle is decorated with rope circles. Banner and circle are probably gold filled, but the surface is pitted (bloomed gold) so it appears matte. The top surface of the circle is shiny gold. Tube hinge. C clasp. Pin stem extends beyond the c clasp. Tiny round hook on back. A small chain and pin would have been attached for added security. Brooch made from multiple elements of metal--most likely brass gilded with karat gold, while some elements may be gold themselves. Two tubes cut on bias on either side, held together by heavy chain, covered in tiny twisted wire. Each chain ends with disk, covered in more twisted wire with three rose-cut rhinestones on either end of tube. On the back is a round hinge, safety pin clasp, with "PSCO" Plainville Stock Company of Plainville, MA stamped onto the top of the clasp. A thin chain is attached to a long pin, ball for head and twisted center. Extra support for securing pin. This is an Aesthetic Era Pin. 1 3/4" long 1/2" wide

Deep gold colored metal frame with micro mosaic glass tesserae in form of flower embedded into goldstone. The frame is surrounded by leaves and flowers set on small metal arches. The one-piece safety clasp and round hinge has probably replaced the original clasp and hinge. Although there is a later patent for the one-piece assembly of clasp/hinge/pin, elements of this brooch, such as the elaborate metal work, the ring to make it into a pendant, and the tiny tesserae all point to it being a Victorian piece. 1 1/2" long 1 1/4" wide

Dangle brooch is a piece of holloware. The top piece is a diamond shape made up of two engraved leaves top and bottom and scrolls with bloomed gold. Two raised forms build up to an oval disc. Inside this disc is an applied cross-like textured decoration with a flower centering it. Hanging is a flat dangle attached by jump ring made up of scrolls and a heart-like form. At the very end is a gold drop. On the back which is covered, is a tube hinge , c clasp and pin stem which extends way beyond the clasp. This is probably made of rolled gold. On the front are gold balls which may be a nod to the Etruscan style. Parts of this was machine made with hand finishing. 2" long. 1 1/8" wide

Pin in form of a belt. There is a center strip of flat topped Bohemian garnets and on each side a smaller strip of tiny, rose cut garnets. Tiny silver balls function to hold the garnets in place. The metal is likely tambac, "garnet gold", a high copper or zinc alloy (a type of brass) used in Bohemia for antique garnet jewelry. There are holes in the belt to allow light to shine through. Round hinge, clearly a repair from the original tube hinge. There is a c clasp. 2 1/4" long. 3/4" tall
