Ground plate has two sections created by metal "wall" that conforms to the shape of the pin. The outer section has stamped lines (or machine turned) covered with blue translucent enamel. The inner section has a stamped or machine turned lines covered with white translucent enamel. This is then hand painted with pink/red flowers and green leaves. This is known as guilloche enameling. The ground plate is made of sterling silver with a round hinge and c-clasp. STERLING is stamped on the back. Pin is 1 1/8" long 3/16" wide

Gold filled pin with a decorative stamped border and some additional decorative elements in the center on one side. On the back is a PAT.6.21.10 which was taken out on June 21, 1910 with an integrated design for a round hinge and safety c clasp all fitted into a decorative front piece. 1 1/4" long. 1/4" wide

Unusual construction of underlying metal (copper, brass?) structure. Includes a c clasp and tube hinge which allow twisted turquoise wire to be attached and drawn around in a bow-like design. There is piece of copper wire in an unusual square design securing the middle of the bow. The under structure appears machine made. 1 1/16" 1/4" wide

Faux pearls in grape-like cluster with metal-stamped grape leaves and vines. Two of the leaves hang off the edges. The pearls are riveted to the bottom. Leaves are very detailed with veins. Unknown metal. Background is "bloomed gold" and is pitted and dull. Round hinge and c clasp. 1 1/4" long 1/8" wide

Rolled gold stamped metal. Metal wrapping around a plate so there are no sharp edges. On the back is a round hinge and safety clasp that has a hood to prevent the pin stem from poking the wearer and accidental unfastening of the pin. The back finding design was patented by the Doran Co. of Providence, RI. Stamped on the back is PAT1904 DORAN PROV 1" long 2/16" wide. Matched 2025.16.134

Three identical pins, rectangular in shape with rounded ends and connected by gold chain. There is "Bloomed" gold color in the center with a shinier edge all around. These are probably gold plated. The two end pins have a tiny ring welded at one end to which a very fine gold metal chain is attached. The pin in the center has a ring welded to opposite sides. On the back of the pins are a round hinge and a c clasp that is safety pin like. Stamped onto the back of the middle pin is Hayward. The Walter E. Hayward Co. was founded in 1851 in Attleboro, MA. 5/8" long 1/8" wide

Matching set of pins (2025.16.270), gold with circular MOP decorative "buttons." The pins appear gilded and engraved. The Mother Of Pearl button is also decorated with four matching cutouts and attached by solder. Pin mechanism is one continuous metal wire, one end made into a grooved space to hold the pin. 15/16" long

The C stands for Champenois & Co. of Newark, NJ which was established in 1876. 1" long 3/16" wide

Sash buckle pin in two tones in shape of oval. Oval is a heavy brass with two heavy silver-toned (possibly sterling) tongues. Purchased in France. On back is tube hinge, c-clasp, the pin stem is wrapped around the center of the tube hinge and extends beyond the c-clasp. This pin may have been used as a sash pin or as a brooch. 1 1/4 " long 3/4" wide

Spider web design sash pin, brass overlay with gilt. Open pattern of scalloped ribs that makes it look a lot like a spider web, a popular motif. The design of the pin features aspects of Arts & Crafts style, handcrafted look, decorative edge around pin. Long-faceted light green stone in center, glass rhinestone, is collet set in the middle of the web. On each side are a fleur-de-lis. A heavy round hinge, c-clasp, and a substantial, but not overly thick, pin stem. The attractive pin combines elements of a number of styles that were common around the turn of the century - Art Nouveau, Arts & Crafts, and French jewelry influences. 2 1/2' long 2 " wide

Oval heavy brass sash pin, heavily textured, with a figure-8 cutout in the center. Smooth on back. Soldered on top are brass grape bunches with leaves and some branches. Center of sash pin is a faceted amber rhinestone, with two smaller amber faceted rhinestones in collet above and below the center large stone. Surface is gilded with copper. On back is a large round hinge, heavy pin stem, and c-catch. The center rhinestone is unfoiled on the back. Small pit on center rhinestone on front and several on back. 3" long 2 1/4" wide

Sash pin of gilded base metal (brass?)--two ovals, intertwined with one another. Pressed metal, with some of the gilding rubbed off. The tongue is attached to give the illusion of a real belt buckle. Ovals are adorned with motifs of flowers, leaves, vines. On the back is a round hinge and c-clasp. There are indications that buckle fastener at one point in time was broken off (?) and made into a sash pin. 2 1/8" long 2" wide

Sash Pin in shape of a diamond with points centered with a cameo. Brass formed of molded metal that looks like filigree wire. There are leaves and flowers as part of the decoration. The metal is not flat. Cameo appears to be a white shell (?) in relief of Greek woman in profile. Cameo may also be made of chalcedony. Backed by narrow bar of brass running the width of entire piece. Thick pin stem with c-clasp and thick tube hinge. Back is stamped with a diamond with "MR" in diamond. 3" long 1 3/4" wide

Scottish Sterling silver agate brooch with central motif of a wheat sheath. Decorative engravings on 2 sides of the pin, and gray and red agate stones on the opposite sides. Love knot scatter pin. The rings are hollow, each edged in milgrain decoration and showing a fair amount of wear. Possibly a base pressed metal with gold gilding on top only. The 4 rings are intertwined, 2 of them have lovely stamped, raised decorations. In the center is a prong-held clear rhinestone. Round hinge and c clasp. There is also a hook, that does not appear as substantial as a typical watch pin hook. 1" wide. 15/16" tall.

Reverse painted glass intaglio pin. Oval pin has a pressed, 3 dimensional picture of a flower basket with two flower garland swags on each side. The intaglio was painted and a Mother of Pearl backing was put on to protect the image. Backing was fit into a brass bezel and decorative bead edge. Edging may be separate from the backing which was attached by tabs on each side. Round hinge and c clasp pre-attached to bezel backing. 1 1/2" long. 1" wide

Pin of indeterminate metal. Gold tone over silver-molded in a design forming a border around an oval shaped Mother of Pearl and 4 clear rhinestones that are prong set. Round hinge and c clasp 1 15/16" long 5/8' wide

Reverse painted intaglio pin. Sterling pin with rectangular intaglio, probably glass. The carved flower and leaves are painted white and green. The background is also painted with the colors fading into each other. Collet set and placed in a decorative open work. Sterling silver background. Two faceted deep blue rhinestones are glued in on each side with tiny bits of metal pulled up to hold the stones in. On the back STERLING is stamped into the center plate. Tiny pin might be brass possibly gold-filled crescent moon and flower with tiny seed pearls. This is a "honeymoon pin" given by a man to his wife on their honeymoon. Round hinge and c clasp. 1/2" wide 1 1/8" tall

Oval pin of pot metal gilded gold. There is a four- leaf clover centered with a prong-set red rhinestone with stem wrapping around the oval frame. S&W stamped on c clasp is the hallmark of Sturtevant & Whiting, North Attleboro, MA in business from 1913-1930s. Round hinge and c clasp. 1" wide 7/16" tall

Delicate pin of flattened wire on outer frame with round wire forming soft loops inside and outside the frame. A flower with silver and blue enamel on the petals is centered with a prong held clear faceted rhinestone. There are two prong held seed pearls, one slightly bigger than the other. A gold-tone flower ornament connects the round wire to the flat wire frame. The flower can be twirled on its mount. Art nouveau influence. The wires appear to be brass. Round hinge and c clasp. 1 1/8 " wide. 3/4" long

Sterling silver heart pin has a stamped design on the front. The back is smooth; but the edges hint it was stamped out by machine. Tube hinge, c clasp and pin stem is very long and extends beyond the pin. 7/8" long 6/8" wide

Oval reverse painted intaglio pin. Glass cabochon with pressed design on back of central spray of flowers. Green leaves and spray of flowers on each side. Flowers are painted from the back, mostly blue and white. This gives a 3 dimensional effect. The backing appears to be a piece of Mother of Pearl. This was bezel set and surrounded by a stamped, probably brass, metal edging made to look like a cord. There are some pits and chips on the glass. Round hinge and c clasp. 1 1/2" wide. 1 1/16" tall

Rectangular brass pin. Faceted glass stone in center is prong set bordered by a rope edging and has ball and circle motifs. The back plate has interesting "tiled" pattern. Round hinge and wide c clasp. 1 3/8" long. 1 3/16" wide

Rectangular Mother of Pearl in delicate brass setting with some stamped details covered in silver gilt. There are four decorative prongs at each corner attached to the frame that holds the rectangular piece of Mother of Pearl, which has wavy lines of green, peach and creme. In the center and attached by rivet is a decorative filigree piece of brass centered with a prong-held clear rhinestone. Four tabs attached to the frame hold the Mother of Pearl from the back. Round hinge and c clasp. Rhinestone is backed by foil which can be seen in the opening of the rivet. Pin stem extends past the c clasp. 1 3/16" wide 15/16" long

Victorian "honeymoon pin" with a crescent moon and swallow--both symbols often used during Victorian times. The crescent moon is inlaid with turquoise cabochons in graduated sizes. The swallow is inlaid with seed pearls. Tube hinge and safety clasp (probably replaced original c clasp). Pin stem sticks out beyond the pin. 1" long 7/8" wide

Art Nouveau pin with face surrounded by leaves and 4 prong-set rhinestones. Unknown metal. C clasp and old style round hinge. 1" wide. 1" long

Oval pin , "lacey" in structure, with prong-held clear rhinestones. Several parts of pin are painted pink with green leaves. Gold surface over base silver metal. Round hinge c clasp. 1 5/8" long 5/8" tall.

Victorian love knot may be gold-filled and hand- or machine-stamped. Tube hinge, c clasp, and pin stem extends far beyond the c clasp. Small loop on back for safety chain. 11/8" long 1 1/8 " wide

Brass pin that is Edwardian influenced and has a stamped backing. A solid oval-shaped fitting is held to the back with two clips folded in front. Four prongs hold the rose-cut faceted purple glass stone. The color is dull and there is no sparkle in the facets. On back is a round hinge and c clasp. 1 1/8" wide. 3/4" tall

Oval pin with Delft ceramic picture of a windmill and house in blue and white. Delfts hand painted on back along with another mark (initials?). It is surrounded by border of textured sterling circles. Tube hinge, c clasp and pin stem extends beyond the pin. There is mark on c clasp; but is hard to read--probably silver content. 1 1/8" long 5/16" wide

Crescent moon and star pin. Deep red garnets, likely pyrope, rose cut, in two different styles that are prong held. They are arranged in carefully graduated sizes in the crescent. Metal likely tambac, an inexpensive zinc-copper alloy used to imitate gold. Tube hinge, c clasp, and pin stem extends beyond the clasp and body of pin. 1" diameter

Appears to be one piece of metal with parts stamped out to show a swallow flying past a cloud. The edges of the cloud have lines stamped in and the swallow has elaborate stamped feathers. The swallow is covered with turquoise translucent enamel and the cloud and back appear gilded with karat gold. 1 1/16" long. 9/16" wide. It has a round hinge and c clasp.

Art Nouveau scatter pin with beautiful wavy symmetrical ribbons and two flowers, perhaps water lilies, around two cabochons, one prong-set opal, the other is glue set and resembles a moonstone. Round hinge and c clasp. Pin stem extends beyond the c clasp. Probably cast brass gilded with gold. 1 1/4" long. 7/8" wide

Sterling round pin of delicate flower and vine design around outside of the pin. There is a clear rhinestone bezel set. The rhinestone is chipped. Round hinge and safety clasp. This pin is in Edwardian style stamped Sterling. 1" diameter

Five-pointed star, probably brass. Brass arms of the star have brass cups which hold tiny rose-cut garnets. There is another five-pointed brass star in the center and centered on that is a larger, prong-held garnet cabochon that is lightly faceted around the edge. Older style round hinge with pin attached to a center tube, C clasp and the pin stem extends beyond the pin itself. PSCO stamped on back arm of star (Plainville Stock Company. Plainville, MA). 1 1/2" diameter

Small round gunmetal pin constructed of 3 different diameters of wire, looped around a center silver metal ball to form a flower like structure. The 3 levels of wire loops are soldered together in the center under the ball. Round hinge and wide c clasp. No indication of metal nor maker's mark. Pin stem extends beyond the clasp. 1" in diameter.

Pin has delicate metal details centered with a marquise-shape red glass stone in prong-held setting. Two bezel set faux seed pearls on each side. Round hinge and c clasp. 1 1/2" long 9/16" tall

Round marcasite pin (labeled as sterling on tag but no marking on pin). Spells THL. Art Deco in style. Small pieces of silver curve up and over each marcasite stone to hold it in place. Lack of 925 mark. Round hinge and safety c clasp date it to early 20th century. 7/8" diameter

Wishbone stickpin of a base metal, gilded by gold, some surface is worn and there is some verdigris on the collet setting of the amethyst. It may be a real gem because of the unusual diamond shape, the facets are sharp and the back is open to allow light to show the color of the stone. The pin stem is thick. Pin is 2 9/16" long--wishbone is 3/4" long by 3/8" wide.

The pin is attached at the top. Gold-tone metal (inexpensive gold, or gold filled or gilded brass). 2 1/2 " long head is 7/8" long and 1/2" wide

Abalone shell of blue and green with a center ridge. It is fitted into a bezeled cup. STERLING is written on the pin near the head. Pin is 2 1/2 " long and head is 5/16" wide.
