Looks like the holes were intended for net insertion or needle lace. Fine drawstring in top hangs out at right front, forms tiny anchored loop at left front corner, ties in center back with similar drawstring going from center back to right front to form another anchored loop. No frill. Edges bound with fine sheer cotton or linen.

Entirely hand stitched fine cotton. Back is long leaf-shaped panel; adjoining curved sections at sides and top. Each has vandyked edge and stands away from body of cap. Face and neck edges have 1/4” casing; fine drawstring around back, and 1/2” white silk plain woven ribbon around front, seems intended to tie under left ear. The whole gathers close around head and face, stands away in back somewhat. Ayreshire type white embroidered tulips and fern leaves with net centers. Ground densely covered with tiny eyelets.

Embroidered in white cotton satin stitch with a leafy vine around head, ‘berries’ are varying sized eyelets; crown is divided by satin stitch borders into quarters, centered with leaflets. Tiny dots fill the ground. Plied cotton drawstrings tie at center front and center back. Quite small.

Entirely hand stitched fine sheer cotton cap. Deep brim, small crown with fine piping in seam. Brim has 4 concentric flat edge frills with tiny piping at base. Each one has embroidered scalloped edges and a dainty scrolled vine in satin and outline stitches. The two inner ones have another narrow border embroidered adjoining the piping on the base fabric. Floral bouquet centered on crown. Self ties with tiny hems, bottom edges have satin stitched vandykes and little border.

Entirely hand stitched extremely fine, sheer cotton. Deep round crown, shallow brim around the head, with chin flaps. Fine linen or cotton braids for drawstring in front and back. Ends of flaps much mended. Knobby remains of ribbon ends.

Entirely hand stitched fine cotton with heavy cotton embroidery. Flat caul shape with ground of leaflets with eyelets. Two pairs of laurel vines across top of head side to side. Eyelets placed every half inch along back hem to receive ribbon or tape drawstring. (blue ribbon added to show form) Seems awfully small for an adult and unlikely for a girl...

Square-cut with fold at back and seam at top.Gathered across bottom with narrow linen tape; plied cotton drawstring between pair of eyelets at peak and about 3” in toward top of head. Double self frill fuller at CF and tapered to nothing at chin; frills have micro hems and micro tucks 1/4” away. 3/4” linen tape ties with tiny hems; at odd location, seemingly at ear level, until one shapes it with the drawstrings. Remains of tiny dark brown silk initials at CF, seems to have been GT.

Night cap. entirely hand stitched white heavy cotton. Flat, curved form, all in one piece. Chin flaps and 1” self ties with narrow hems all around. All edges finished with nearly flat frill of leno-woven edging stitched down along length, off-center to form double frill.

Entirely hand stitched sheer muslin; embroidered with white cotton. Bowl shaped with side inserts extending into chin flaps. Bouquets of clover and ferns [?] at front and back and sides. Satin and stem stitches, eyelets and pulled thread centers of flowers.Edges bordered with eyelet sprigs. Sewing of seams a little sloppy but appears original. Shape does not seem to conform to a real head shape, and form is odd.

Frills have corded micro hems and single corded tucks. Fine braided linen drawstrings in front and back. Embroidered insertion on top CF. No ties. Similar to 97.032, 97.034.

Entirely hand stitched fine linen. White cotton embroidery, satin stitch. Horseshoe shape. Orderly vine with oval leaves having net filling and spines embroidered all around, encircles entire cap. Filling is large eyelets flanked with little leaflets. Seam is embroidered with narrow vine. Tiny drawstring casings around front and back. Back drawstrings missing; front ones are narrow round linen braid.

Entirely hand stitched sheer white cotton cap; shallow brim with long extensions under chin. Crown, separated from brim by hand embroidered insertion, has 4 puffs separated by same insertion arrayed around circle in center, which is bordered by same insertion.

Entirely hand stitched white cotton. Horseshoe crown, medium brim. Piped seam. Embroidered with broderie anglaise flower sprays; also satin, seed and stem stitch. Edged with flat frill, scalloped with simple broderie anglaise design; tiny pleats give fullness at ears. Plied cotton drawstring runs through whole bottom edge. Long self ties with tiny hems.

Hand stitched fine linen cap, embroidered in white cotton padded satin stitch and eyelets; willows and abstract flowers with net fillings. Horseshoe crown joined to brim with handmade lace insertion. Fine casing at top and neck with fine linen braided tape. Remains of narrow white silk ribbon ties.

"Entirely hand stitched cotton, with linen thread. Block print fabric with rose motif, deep brim with lappets to reach under chin, crown one piece to bottom edge where two wide woven cotton tapes emerge from a large eyelet in the center. Evidence of tape or the like sewn to ends of lappets. Front edge faced with print, interior lined with natural coarse linen. Closely quilted in braided twill effect so the cap is firm all over- cotton batting! Front edge finished with 1” wide robin’s egg blue silk ribbon turned under a bit to the inside.

Hand stitched net, medium brim and shallow horseshoe crown, all edged with knit lace with gathers toward lower corners. No drawstrings. Self ties. Embroidered with meandery, simply drawn leaves.

Hand knit cotton, very fine work. Narrow border rib on either side of openwork scroll border all around edge. Star in back of crown; field of openwork diamonds. About 1” gathered at center back with a thread. Thick ivory satin 12” ribbon ties attached to corners. Large infant size.
