Entirely hand-stitched girl's sunbonnet made of white cotton with printed pink rosebuds. Deep brim with channels for cardboard slats to stiffen it. The caul is gathered inside at the neck with a twill tape drawstring, the top corner has a threaded loop to pass over a small button at the top inner edge of the brim. 6" cape with square corners in front; rounded 'train' in back. Self ties in the back and inside, under the chin.

Sunbonnet with wide straw brim edged with two different patterns of flowered cotton. Crown, neck ruffle, and ties made of hand-woven blue and white checked linen. Hand and machine stitched.

Child's blue cotton sunbonnet, scalloped edges

Small child or toddler's cotton sunbonnet. Machine-sewn with hand finishing. Made form figured cotton crown and deep bavolet. Brim is made from a ribbed cotton, woven ribs, Crown and brim seam is covered with cotton gimp cord. Brim is trimmed in tiny pleated cotton fabric strip. Ties hang down and are made from machine-gimp cotton tape. Some splits in seams, and stain on bavolet interior.

Cotton lady's sunbonnet with dimity brim. Machine and hand-stitching present throughout, with the hand-stitching being very small in some areas, and rather large and sloppy in other areas. Long ties from sides. Brim is deep while crown is relatively shallow. Long bavolet hangs from the crown with machined hem edge. Bavolet is drawn and then stitched by hand to the crown. Simple ruffle around edge of brim

Made of handmade cardboard, hand-stitched together. No marks. Covered with wallpaper, applied horizontally, having a broad arabesque stripe in shades of rich green (speculated to be arsenic green) on either side of a pair of twisted knobby vines bearing green leaves, blue and red flowers, separated by a narrow green border. The box contains a layer of slightly lustrous pale peach-colored tissue, evidence of crumbled tulle, and a modern pearl-headed straight pin in the bottom.

Hat box hand made of pasteboard covered with wallpaper. Unlined. Pattern is green rose and freesia vine upon lacy waving ribbon, alternating with clumps of white roses upon horizontal gray and brown ‘ikat’ striped ground. Blue and green spot border around lid rim. String handle mid way up the side of the box. “10 1/2 - 16” written in red on bottom (the size).

Fine, sheer cotton (MID) muslin strip with embroidered vandyked long sides; hem on one end and selvage on the other. 61” long, 5.5” wide. (Fabric is 51” wide so a 10” piece was added to achieve the desired length.)

Fine sheer muslin with micro hem and long borders of 4 micro tucks. 6.25” x 59”

Wedding Cap/ Dinner Cap made of a white net covering a wire armature that fits over the top of the head to the jaw. Rows of tulle frills on either side, edged with loops of narrow white silk ribbon which are laid across the top and back. The back two rows on top are pointed forward at the center. No evidence of flowers or any other attachments.

Wax orange blossom ornaments, beautifully detailed, for unspecified occasion in 1879 by L G Dyer (presumably Lillian Pittmann Greene Dyer). a) A long trailing piece extending from a spray- perhaps worn on the top of a large braid or the like and trailing down the looped braid. b) A smaller spray, perhaps for the bosom.

Wedding headpiece of wire wrapped in paper for trailing flowers. Looks like small mum flowers with leaves.

Black lace made of a shiny thread with stiff hand. Pusher lace with hand run gimp, hand applied picot edging. Morning glory and fern design. Long triangular shape. 26.5” x 12.5”

Fragment of a fine white cotton petticoat (or drawers) hem. Two bands of four tucks, finely hand stitched, above embroidered eyelet leaf fronds and daisies with a double scalloped edge.

2 Machine-stitched four-foot lengths of hem weights, made of bits of lead about a half inch long into a thin cotton cloth fabric casing.

Star or flower-shaped flat piece of ivory, 8 'arms.' 1.5" diameter.

Entirely hand-stitched hood made of rose pink silk satin. Interlined with cotton batting; mostly quilted with parallel lines; lined with ivory figured silk. Long and deep fold-back rim with rounded ends; crown gathered onto it and into deep wadded bavolet. Self bow tie attached with straight pins in center back. Light pink picot edged ribbon ties stitched in place.

Softly wadded hood made of changeable pink/blue silk. Large fold-back brim with long lappets which has an unusual corded "edge" at the fold. Edges trimmed with strip of self fabric frayed to leave blue fringe along the sides; gathered down the center; the same used for a bow in the back; lined with standard thin tan PW cotton; evidence of pinned-on ties.

Entirely hand stitched quilted hood, brown silk (very fine soft rep) lined with tan “cambric” glazed cotton lining, thin brown batting. The brown PW ribbon ties are silk warp, cotton weft - a cheap and sturdy selection, about 1.5” wide. The cape is pieced. The join to the cap is covered with thin drill.

Brown silk velvet infant’s hood, pieced. Center panel over head between 2 rounded side panels. Heavy piped seams. Probably interlined with flannel; lined with matching brown wool flannel. No ties.

Girl’s hood. Blue/black/green plaid silk taffeta, with self bavolet. Faced with pink figured silk ribbon; lightly wadded, cream cotton lining. No ties.

Infant hood, entirely hand stitched white cotton matelasse; front faced with cotton corded dimity; unlined; flat shallow brim, crown loosely gathered all around, cape with curved front edges; plain weave linen ties. All around and at back of cape is an edging that looks like crochet lace but isn’t.

Fine cream wool child’s hood with soft red accent. Horseshoe crown, shallow brim. Dense crochet frilling around face and at seam. Elaborate crochet trim at base. Cream silk grosgrain ties. No lining. Fabric seems to be wave crochet as presented as a “new stitch” in Godey’s, or very similar.

Soft jade green silk taffeta, hand quilted corded edges along front and back of brim; lined with 2 block printed calicos; gathered at lower back; long pointed front with one short self fabric tie; 2” cape or bavolet.*They look block printed but I suspect they are cylinder prints c1825-40.

Black silk hood, machine quilted (at home?) through all layers, one-piece construction with seam and pleats; flared shape; lightly quilted curved cape which curves to front corner of brim. Lining is olive-brown glazed cotton; black silk taffeta fancy ribbon ties about 3” x 14”.

Entirely hand stitched hood of gold silk; deep crown turned back over forehead; deep cape; all quilted with triple rows forming check design; cotton batting; lined with lt brown glazed cotton. Edged with maroon silk ribbon, used for frill on brim. Plain maroon ribbon ties.

Black machine quilted silk, otherwise completely hand stitched. Black silk fringed “kilted” frill around brim. Brown ribbon with brown and black velvet stripes as bow in back, ties, and facing of front brim. 8” bavolet lined with brown silk, and horseshoe crown. Lined with brown glazed cotton. Stuffed with cotton batting.

Brown cotton velveteen edged rather crudely with wide white leather band which probably was a fur trim originally. Inside lined with machine quilted brown plainwoven silk, stuffed with brown cotton. Brown silk ribbon ties.

Brown silk hood lined with olive drab cotton; short black velvet ties. Wadded in rows with cording on crown. Back just diamond quilted; lined 2” bavolet. short self-fringed ruffle around face.

Entirely hand stitched wadded brown plainwoven silk. Lined with pink same. Stuffed with down, even in bavolet. 3/4” brown plainwoven silk ribbon bows at center back and 4 places at top and center front. Corded frill around front. Original light pink silk brocade tie- accordion pleated at attachment.

Entirely hand stitched purple/blue silk taffeta hood. Wadded in channels formed by strings in casings over brim. Self-frill around brim edge. Self-cape, 3.5” to 2.5” also wadded. Lined with brown PW cotton, except for pink silk facing of brim. Very neatly made.

Entirely hand stitched maroon silk lined with warm pink silk in front and tan cotton in back. Wadded with cotton (microscope identified) drawn up with cotton strings inside casings over brim. Long pink silk ribbon ties; brown silk satin bow in back; sheer brown silk (?) satin bow in front top.

Hand knit black wool hood with loop texture; black cotton facing at top and sides. Black grosgrain bow at rear near bottom; black satin bow at top front; black grosgrain ties; very long narrow loopy ‘ties’ with self tassel at end.

Crocheted soft black wool hood, shell stitch. Edged with 2” scalloped frill which appears to be beaded to accept ribbon insertion. 1” pleat in back probably to achieve better fit. 18” black grosgrain ribbon ties. Lined with fine greenish black silk/wool (?) twill.

Entirely hand stitched blue silk hood having rows of deep wadding separated by narrow unstuffed rows. Back section and 1.5” cape are also stuffed. Lined with pink glazed cotton. Overall form seems trumpet shaped as for the 1840s. Long 2” wide black silk ribbons seem to be a recent addition.

Hood, hand stitched green, white and black plaid silk taffeta. Corded with wadding in between; back and bavolet have thin layer of batting. Bavolet on bias, about 3” deep. Faced with matching green silk taffeta; lined with brown glazed plain weave cotton. red and green plaid silk ribbon ties, about 12” long; matching bow in back at neck.

Infant Hood, greenish silk. Blue (formerly) silk taffeta; formerly bright blue silk grosgrain ribbon ties. Center panel overhead between 2 rounded side panels. Heavy piped seams: darker ribbon facing turned out as binding on edges. Probably interlined with flannel; lined with cream cotton flannel.

Hand-stitched fine black felt opera hood or “scarf mantle,” two piece. Edged with double band of narrow machine stitched black silk ribbon. Pointed hood ending in big tassel; back ends over shoulder blades in points ending in tassels; long front pieces cut to wrap over shoulders, ending in points with tassels.

Hand-stitched cotton velveteen printed with stripes of ivory, black and olive (now a little faded) having paisley motifs in red and orange. Deep brim extending below cheeks, round crown and short bavolet. Black silk piped edges and seams. Lined with cotton printed with narrow solid and figured stripes in brown, ochre and red. Bavolet lined with off white silk (ribbon) with checkered pattern, probably the same used for ties. The circle has a bit of multicolored basketry to reinforce it, and a repair layer of cardboard.

Entirely hand stitched, gray-blue heathery silk, lined with brown glazed cotton. Wadded, channels drawn with string. Bavolet. Three small black silk ribbon bows along top ‘ridge’ and one remaining ditto tie attached with 2 piece straight pin.

Small hood, hand stitched bright yellow silk. Wadded, corded to fit close to head, edge finished with self frill. Three small orange bows in a row along center of top. Yellow ribbon ties with cross bands and picot edges, apparently a wider ribbon cut lengthwise to a more suitable dimension. Lined with white silk.

Entirely hand stitched golden tan silk hood. Tightly wadded channels separated by pairs of corded rows. Quilted bavolet. Lined with similar color of lining cambric. Original ribbon ties of brown taffeta bordered with dark brown brocade zigzag design.

Child’s wadded hood made of elegant ribbon with floral brocade section adjoined by blue and tan sections. Pieced to fit symmetrically. Short wadded bavolet. Lined with orchid plaid silk, turquoise silk ribbon ties. Front edge faced with turquoise ribbon and turned back on itself.

Entirely hand stitched hood made of soft brown silk, lined with pale pink silk. Long pointed brim, horseshoe crown, bavolet. All sections trimmed with the pink; the front half of the hood is quilted with black thread in rather large stitches. Remains of brown silk ribbon ties inside. Does not appear to have been worn with the brim flipped back. The back and bavolet are not quilted, suggesting this might actually be a bonnet cover.

Wadded hood, entirely hand stitched, made of dark brown matelasse silk in design of small squares. Basic funnel shape with bavolet, edged with band of honey toned, partly curly sheep fleece. Lined with maroon sateen. Brown grosgrain ribbon ties.

Black silk taffeta hood, entirely hand stitched including the diamond quilting, used throughout. Comes back on the head, deep bavolet. Ribbed silk ribbon ties pinned on. Kilted ruching made of black silk ribbon attached along bottom edges and along most of the seam at the top of the bavolet.

Infant size hood with shallow bavolet, no interlining, entirely hand stitched of gray striped silk taffeta with paired white satin cross stripes at wide intervals. Ornamented with pink silk taffeta ribbon tacked at the center back on top, brought forward toward the ear and bent back to form a bow in the back of the neck, and applied as kilted band across the front edge. Lined with white silk foulard, and the inner edge trimmed with tightly pleated or quilled lace; short ribbon ties.

Toddler or small girl’s hood made of green checked silk with rows of wadding, filled with cotton, lined with tan cotton and faced with faded red silk. Ombre green-yellow bow pinned to the back. Long green silk ribbons ties.

Winter work hood with neck ruffle for sun protection. Quilted black silk; stuffed with wool; lined with brown and yellow stripe cotton.

Entirely hand stitched green silk faille hood, probably a recycled garment. Quilted in diamonds. Deep foldover brim. Slightly gathered cap, horseshoe crown with piping, self bow in back. Self lined; brim lined with light green silk brocade and pink ribbon, same as ties. Brown glazed cotton lining.

Hand-stitched winter hood made from machine-quilted plum red wool cloth (to make quilted effect, fabric may or may not have been purchased this way.) Hood brim and bavolet is made up of a green wool. Wool batting in crown and brim; bavolet lined with black glazed cotton; plum silk satin ribbons are attached to hood.

Crochet hook of bone with a small hook at each end.

Mother of pearl tambour hook with gilt ferrule and wing nut; steel hook; 5 1/4"" long; original caps; acorn finial on hook cap, nice little finial on other cap

Hoop with wide asymmetrical cone shape, 11 thin cotton tapes and belt; 18 closely spaced cloth covered hoops at bottom, 12 more widely spaced above to hips. Secures by hooking a hook into an eyelet.

.1) 7.5” diameter, wood covered with white taffeta ribbon on inner ring and gray grosgrain ribbon on outer ring. 2) 6.25” diameter, black plastic (?) with lengthwise grooves on contact surface of inner ring. This has marks that suggest the material might be whalebone although I can’t imagine using whalebone for this purpose, and that there would not be a visible join. 3) 5.75” diameter, wood covered with torn strips of unbleached muslin.

Hoop with off white cotton tapes and covered metal wire. Embossed brass buckle, seems to be missing its mate. 17 hoops concentrated below knees. Bottom diameter, 20”; 30” long.

15 watch spring hoops of graduated size cover a distance of about 14” from bottom. Held in place by 5 sturdy cotton tapes suspended from waistband. Front tape has white metal buckle. Waistband marked 30.” length is 30.” Waist is about 24.” Largest diameter hoop is 18”, even conical effect.

44 Watch spring hoops of graduated size held by 7 heavy cotton tapes; white metal buckle in waist front marked “PATENT 1855.” Waist about 24”; length 30”; largest diameter 27.” Even conical effect.

Large bell shaped hoop, adult sized. Tape around waist with tinned steel buckle patent dated 1855. About 108” in circumference at bottom.

Bustle made of cotton tapes, spring steel.a) Hoop has barrel shape; 10 hoops, 5 tapes. Waist stamped “No. 18.” Open in front. Silver colored stamped buckle with dated in relief: “Patented July 2d 1867” [or 87?]b) Bustle has flat, shelf-like form with 3 hoops, similar strapping and buckle stamped the same.

Fine springs steel, covered; 25 hoops. Tape waistband with eyelets and a metal hook; front edges bound in blue silk. Leather bindings or facings on front opening. No marks.

Bustle for a small girl, with slight bulge in back. 12 even spaced cloth wrapped hoops, top one angled. 5 tapes. Waistband has buckle with patent date of 1863. Waistband is stamped in red: “Day’s Patent Lined Clasp Skirt patented February 20th 1866 and April 16th 1857.

Girl’s hoop with 15 cloth covered steels at bottom. 5 blue and white striped cotton tapes. Coarse white cotton waistband with steel buckle. Tapes taken up.

Hoop with 15 cloth covered steels at bottom. 7 thin cotton tapes on cotton belt with decorative brass buckle with patent date of July 2, 1867.

Hoop with 9 thin tapes, thin belt with tinned steel buckle “Patent applied for” - nicely covered hoops, 15 at bottom spaced closely, another 13 above more widely spaced. Train. Tape is stamped “Manufactured by H.I. Gedaly Red Hook NY”

Hoop with bustle back and close front. 7 heavy cotton tapes and belt; 15 double hoops made by inserting a steel on each side of a 3/4 inch tape. A couple of hoops are missing the wires near the hips. Several clumsy mends to breaks with scotch tape. Belt extended on each end, missing buckle.

One piece, princess style housecoat of dark red wool, diagonal weave. Bodice, forming pouch at waist front, has detachable wide, square-cut collar edged with lace, and long leg o' mutton sleeves. Floor length skirt is cut with slight train at back; panel in skirt front is trimmed with ecru lace. Moth holes, discoloration

Housewife with 2 pockets, one blue/red silk brocade, small sprig, one faded red silk velvet. Lined blue/green silk taffeta. Outside black cotton velveteen with beaded floral design - Iroquois (Mohawk). Med beads; 2 reds, pink, white, opal, green, 2 turq, lav, over paper patterns Iroquois or Mohawk 4.25"" x 9.5"

Entirely hand stitched sewing rollup, all in pale yellow silk thread. Outside is dark olive silk, inside is faded purple silk except for an ivory silk pocket at the end. The center portion has long narrow channels for skeined thread. The other end has a pointed flap with a buttonhole, lined with ivory silk and covering a pocket with a covered bone disk button. Beneath this flap is a double, scalloped red wool flap for storing needle. One needle present, very thin and springy. The edges are buttonhole stitched, and the ivory flap is decorated with an embroidered circular design; the other one has borders, and the initial A, above the year 1799.

Housewife, entirely hand stitched, made of furnishing print brown copperplate (probably). The pattern is rural but hard to discern what it was overall. Printed on cotton. Made as a tube with a pointed flap on the top of one ‘side’ and a little drawstring pouch-pocket at the bottom."

Hand stitched thread keeper of green silk satin ribbon with brocade wheat ears, lined with cream same; little flannel patch for needles; purselike pocket with covered ring button, scalloped flap, ribbon covered divider within. Long central section with parallel chain-stitched rows and cotton backing. Replaced tie? 3 1/4" x 3 1/4"; 14" long open.

Olive green silk thread keeper, finely hand stitched with yellow silk thread. Shaped flaps. Pocket section, plus long narrow pockets for skeins of thread, of which there are TWO, fine Z2S white cotton. 3 tiny scraps of well-fulled cream wool twill, stitched w apple green silk- 2 tiny needles.

All hand stitched housewife; med. blue glazed cotton base, 4 silk pockets edged with silk chain stitch; silk lining on flap; silk scraps for outer covering; gathered pouch of block (?) printed cotton with floral stripe and spongy-ferny stripe in pink, green. Green silk binding; ribbon drawstring; 13.5" l.

Hand-sittched housewife stitched with linen except as noted : home-made (?) blue/white warp strip linene ticking back: bound with maroon silk that has a resist spot pattern - probably a bandana; applies on straight grain. There are 7 pockets, equal size, each a different block print on cotton. The facing at the top is a tan ground with pencil blue foliage and dark brown trailing vines. Made of English cotton. N/A

Pair of ice skates. Straight wooden sole (possibly oak or chestnut) with square toe, fitted with steel blade that begins under heel and extends to front past end of sole, curving up over toe. Blade is attached with screw at heel and thick wire at toe. Leather strap on either side of heel, attached to a thicker band that would support the back of the foot; holes remain in sole for straps that would have gone over toe.

Bust improver made of a fine linen cover with stuffed pads inside, can’t be removed, however. The linen has old stitchlines - probably from an old chemise or the like. Frill across top is a fine cotton or linen ribbon (finished edge). All hand sewn except for line of machine stitching across binding along top edge. The center has two stays of baleen or splint of some kind. Thin cotton twill tape loops on either side to fit around arms. The padding seems to be horsehair. The pads are edged with twill tape. Another piece of tape is tied to one side, perhaps to better secure the contraption across the back.

An invitation printed on cotton calico fabric announcing a "Calico and Neck Tie Ball" at Howard's Hall, Avalon, Tuesday Evening, March 10, 1885. The invitation in cut and not bound on the edges. The invitation in printed with small red dots with lines, and dotted black lines. Playful. The invitation sates that admission is 74 cents, and supper is 50 cents. Music is by Drake and Gudgell Bands. The invitation lists the members of different committees that helped organize and manage the event itself: Invitation: Will Leeper, Avalon, Wm. Dudley, Hale., and Bob. Stewart, Chillicothe. Reception: Frank Riley, F.M. Howard, Burt Moon. Floor Manager: Harry Rohrer and John Line. The invitation fabric has a few stains - one circular, some blue marks on the bottom left edge, and a brown stain across the body of the invitation. The invitation is cut without being bound - edges are fraying in spots.

Invitation to a calico ball printed on cotton calico fabric. Printed in multiple fonts, one cotton fabric of a striped brown and white. Stamp reads: "Chebanse Terpsichorean Club, Second Annual Calico Ball At Milk's Hall, Thursday Eve, January 1st. 1874. Yourself with Ladies, Cordially Invited. Music by Schofield's Band. Calico Ball invitation printed on calico fabric - cream ground with deep red diamond motif repeated. Stamped/printed with information: "Leap-Year Calico Party The Company of Yourself and Gentleman is Requested at 'The Armory' Penn Yan, N.Y. Black silk satin opera or evening jacket. Black polished jet beading across hem, collar, and sleeve ends, intermingled with black silk soutache cording in Gothic design. Sleeves and hem are trimmed with doubled-flounced machined black bobbin lace. Large sleeve openings with small sleeve cap at top. Lined in a cotton sateen fabric. Turn-down collar. CF opening and lcosure of hook sand eyes. CF has three sets of balck grosgrain ribbon with purposfully frayed edges, each set with two dangling balls of black jet beads. Machined with interior hand-finished seams.

Boy's black wool jacket. Stand-up collar. Semi-circle pocket on the left chest that closes with a button. Wide cuffs. Lined with coarse bombazine. 9 buttons down the center front.

Lady's winter jacket, heavily insulated, made of a heavy purple wool with a soft black grid pattern on point. Closely fitted with princess seaming, hip length. Sleeves large at top, faux cuff effect. Seams and edges outlined with wide black flat braid. Black coat buttons on proper left button into concealed placket. Not sure if they are rubber or plastic. Two heavy hooks at collar stand to keep it neatly closed all the way up. Small black velvet collar with pointed edges in back. Front and skirt lined lined with purple thin silk taffeta. Seams beautifully finished inside. Small pockets under flaps extending around the side toward the back. NO label.

Entirely hand-stitched green silk velvet boy’s jacket. Lined with white plain-woven cotton in the back and green plain-woven silk in the front. Hip length, very slight flare. High round neckline with 3 white China buttons inside for collar. Slightly flared sleeves with 3 cotton tape ties inside armscyes for sleeves. Edged with green decorative ribbon all around. ‘Bow tie’ closure at neckline formed of green silk passementerie. Brass hooks and eyes down the front.

Machine-stitched jacket made of fine cream colored wool. The center front opening with 17 handmade buttonholes and replacement MOP buttons. Standing collar with stud closure and celluloid stud. Hip length; pointed in front with princess seams. Back has short square tails with inverted box pleat in center. Slim sleeves to wrist. Embroidered (after construction) with white silk twist, satin stitch, and leafy vine on both sides of front opening and along entire hem. The front of the sleeve hems are adorned with dots suggesting buttons up side of sleeves. Underlined with white jean.

Lady's highly structured jacket of deep red cotton velveteen, lined with a deep red silk satin. Padded in chest and tailored to droop for a mono-bosom silhouette. Inner waistband of pleated velveteen, with panel that closes at CF with hooks and eyes. Over this layer is a false button layer with tiny buttons, with a final layer of false buttons larger. Peplum-like skirt extends form sides to back. Sleeves are very full, with small gathering at sleeves head. False inner-sleeves that terminate at wrists underneath gather.

Summer jacket of white cotton matelassé with a floral design, cut slightly flared from shoulder to hipline, dipping a little at center back. Buttons up the front with large pearl buttons into high, narrow neckband. Very dropped shoulder line, and long coat sleeves. Jacket unlined. there are white cotton braid loops applied around the parameter of the jacket opening and cuffs The loops may have been used to receive a ribbon threaded through them. Hand sewn but not cut button small button holes between the large existing buttons. Material: cotton with floral design in blister weave

Lady's jacket made of black wool. Lined with silk taffeta. Checkered enameled buttons down the front for the closure. A singular button on each cuff and two buttons on the bottom back of the jacket.

Men's morning coat made of black wool twill with basket-weaved buttons. Thick black piping along lapels.

Hip length jacket of black textured silk, closing in front with concealed hooks and three pairs of frogs. Dropped shoulders with long, “coat” sleeves, finished at the wrists with three tucks and braiding. Fitted neckband of taffeta replaces missing collar. Two patch pockets trimmed with tucks, braid, and fringe along bottom edges. The back is shaped to fit over a bustle. it is lined with quilted silk. Collar missing; possibly something has been removed from bottom edge. SG confirms. The back seam has a crude mend.

Fitted, hip-length double-breasted jacket of dull purple velour ,fastening up the front with a double row of buttons (crescent moon detail) into narrow turnover collar. Long, fairly narrow sleeves trimmed with one button at cuff. Double vent at back. Lined throughout with quilted black satin. Original owner - Mrs. Alexander Ruck Gibboney Worn by Mrs. Alexander Ruck Gibboney in January 1886 as part of her honeymoon outfit, all of the same color. Authenticity of buttons doubtful

Mostly machine-stitched infant's jacket made of wool and cotton. Looks like opera wool mixed with a cotton. Scalloped edges across collar, cuffs, the center front opening, and bottom hem.

Child’s coatdress of deep plum velvet with satin cuffs, front panels and pleated back panel. Buttons down the front x12, one missing at neck, and two rows of buttons for trim on velvet panels from the hip extending partially over the satin panel in the rear. Jacket had matching cap which was hung with the coat and became separated. Only the ribbon is still with the jacket.

Little boy's deep blue or black velvet bolero jacket. Black Soutache or Russian Braiding down the center front opening and continuing onto the back of four-leaf clovers or Shamrocks with trailing waves below, handsewn on. The center front edge, neckline, and bottom hem are bound in black twill tape. This tape goes across the wrist opening as well, about 2 3/4" above the opening. Round coat sleeves are fully lined with blue and white stripe twill weave cotton. The body of the jacket is lined with a deep greenish / brown wool fabric. The center back hem features two vents on either side. Most likely was paired with a boy's skirt or frock in matching velvet fabric. Closes with one single hook and eye at a high round neckline opening.

Jacket of dark brown velour (cotton feel - may be silk, or a blend), fitted at the back to fot over a bustle, with vent, unfitted in front and cut to form longer pointed panels to the knees. Buttoning up the front with concealed buttons into high stand-up collar. Long tight sleeves, slightly full at the cap and finished with wide cuffs. Lined with dark brown satin. Two fur covered buttons with braid ornamentation over bust - probably a later addition. Wear at collar edge

Entirely hand-stitched bolero/zouave jacket made of silk taffeta. High neckline. Flaring front opening curving around the hem. The side seams are shaped slightly to flare away from a moderately high waist. Single bust dart. Moderate pagoda sleeves. Neckline and armscyes piped. Single hook and eye at neck. Front and hem edges are finished with quilled black magenta edged ribbon. The same ribbon is laid down outside of the sleeves. Sleeve ends faced with black taffeta. Lined with sturdy tan twilled cotton. Slight point in the ‘tail’ or hemline in the back.
