Honoring Juneteenth
Geared for Grades 4 – 12. Juneteenth is considered the oldest celebration of the end of enslavement in the United States – and an official state holiday here in New York! We will spotlight the events, experiences, and people fundamental to our collective understanding and appreciation of freedom.

Geared for grades K – 12. Self-guide through our historic village with 68 historic buildings to better understand what life may have been like in Upstate New York 200 years ago!
Maple Festival Field Trip
Geared for grades 2 – 12. This Maple Festival geared for school groups brings history, chemistry, math, and ecology to life! Reverse osmosis? Sap to syrup ratios? The importance of maple sugar for the economy of anti-slavery protest? No other field trip has all this in store for your students.
Nature Discoveries
Geared for grades K – 12. During this guided field trip, your class will rotate through hands-on activities, a nature walk, a live animal presentation, and games. The program includes similar elements at any point of the year, but is tweaked to fit the season and the weather.
War! What is it Good For?
Geared for Grades 4 – 12. Understand the impact of the Civil War on our nation and the actions New Yorkers took to engage in the momentous event. Learn about the science that assisted spies, how communication changed in the telegraph office and the print office. Experience what it was like for soldiers to be recruited and trained, and see a soldier’s camp. Listen to the music of the Civil War, and so much more!
Nature Rocks!
Geared for grades 6 – 12. Our naturalists will guide your class on an interactive, inquiry-based walk through the Museum’s woodland and meadow habitats. Students will explore erosion, fossils, biodiversity, competition for natural resources, and much more!
Preparing for Winter
For all ages. Stroll the Historic Village where preparations are underway for the cold season ahead. Students will learn about how the needs and duties of 19-century New Yorkers shifted as they prepared for the season to come. See traditional crafts, harvesting tasks, winterizing homes, and food preparations in the historic kitchens
Home for the Holidays
Geared for grades 2-12. On this guided tour through the wintery Historic Village, students are encouraged to make connections with 19th century traditions to their own winter experiences. The tour creatively delivers a host of curriculum topics in a unique and memorable way.
